the sun is starting to come out, it is Printemps, Springtime. no blossoms yet, but you can smell it and feel it in the air.
and not just the sunshine. on Saturday, when we walked outside, you can tell that it is just about to rain. but it stayed that way all morning, much to my delight. today it was warm enough that i didn't put on my scarf on our morning run to the Marne River. and one day this week we went to visit soeur bize and were completely soaked when we arrived even though it was not raining! it was 'misting,' the clouds were on the ground. do you remember that?
this week, we found Therese in the area book. She is a sister who was previously taught a little but lost contact until we called her. she had invited her sister over with her to listen to our message, and had read the bom since the sisters saw her last :) her sister, Evelyn started to cry when we sang I am a child of god, and both of them went on about 'that's powerful, so puissant' boy, am i grateful for the power of the spirit and the power of music together. m&ms : music & missions with the spirit
CEsar, a j a in the ward made flyers last week for the concert that we need to put in as many boulangeries and concervatories as possible, so starting the publicity should be another fun addition to this week. i just hope i have some time this week to do some slow practice!
i saw emilie causée this week at institute with adeleaide, although we didn"t have a chance to talk, she looked beautiful and happy with all the j as there.
Vincennes is perhaps my favorite endroit of our secteur. woops, that was half french- favorite place in our area. it is great old parisian architecture, a little more rich, and has great open places with little woods and parks. we did our district contacting there this week, stopping everyone we could out of the metro with the other elders in our ward, trying to tell them about the miracle of the gospel. not very many listened, and the one girl i talked to for a half hour turs out to be out of our area and only really wanted to talk to me, not any other missionaries... argh
the lord has blessed us so much. we are seeing two baptisms this week, neither of which are our own, but both of which i will be giving musical numbers :)
three sisters / investigators / amies came to church yesterday and we can start teaching 2 of them! we are getting more amies each day.
the old lady who always comes to Cors D'anglais , english class, consented to listen to us 2 weeks ago and actually really likes our messages. she also has us read english books into a recorder (fine for some of our service hours)
and this week taught us to make clafoutis and gateau au yaourt. you guys should make clafoutis more often, just cut up apples (or cherries or anything else) and pour over crèpe batter with a little soda, and pop it in the oven til it's set. lovely.
congratulations to jane for being in tune and in the right places at the right times. and what a comfort to know where the lord is taking care of you and is aware of each moment. this morning while cleaning the apartment, we listened to sherie dew's talk god wants a powerful people and was uplifted at her message that god really knows us individually and would have it no other way. what a blessing.
I am so touched by elder eyring s words that we can be comforted if we are feeling the spirit. the spirit is the great purifier, the testifier, the comforter, the light, the consciece, the helper, and if we have his constant companionship, we can know that we are doing the right thing, and we are doing our best.
i restarted the bom in french apart from all the other studies that i'm doing and was also struck by sariah's humility. she really is teachable. even when she worried and complained at her sons' trip to jerusalem, the moment* she learned, she turned around and started to testify. she was not stubborn about being wrong, or didn't dwell on her fault but learned and glorified God in the process. let us all overcome our faults, turn to god and glorify him.
love you all!
oh, my apartment address is
18 rue de cherbourg
94360 Bry_sur _ Marne
love you
soeur wilson
