About a month ago, I talked to some high-school-aged kids on bus 120. They were surprised that we were ‘cool’ (also a French word, don’t worry) people to talk to. Anyway, they saw me again, leaving the bus yesterday evening and shouted out “Jesus Christ” as my name.
I may have chuckled at their wave, but was thrilled to have this time in my life where I can not only hear ‘Jesus Christ’ and look, but where I can be referred to as the Saviour. Although it would be blasphemous to even compare the Lord with myself, I am right now engaged in His work. John Taylor said, on his way to the France mission to a troup of Indians, “I am engaged in my master’s business, to be a minister of Jehovah, to lead them to life, light, and everlasting truth.”
A great big evangelical African woman, railed with a full voice for 15 minutes how blessed I was for serving the lord, and how blessed my family would be, and how blessed my children would be… .
We had two new investigators this last week who both made me think about our calling:
Françoise said that her favourite thing about us coming to teach her was the light in our eyes when we talk of Christ… it is so bright.
Monica told us that we had the talent of preaching like a good preacher—when the word can go into her hearts. I told her that it is not our talents. Every member in our church teaches and preaches. But the Spirit of the Lord is what brings our message to the hearts of the people. You are feeling the Spirit.
The Lord is in charge of this work. His name is on our hearts. His will is the only thing we strive for. I pray that we can attain a little bit more of our potential by continually all striving for that together.
i love you all-- let me know how you are doing when you have a moment!
