Bread Crumbs

there is still flower on my shirt.

living above a boulangerie can be very exciting. we haven't really taken advantage of it apart from a pain au céréale and a pain complet... until tonight.

after returning home late from teaching a crazy brazilian couple, we noticed the bread dumpster that is usually in our courtyard was out on the street. each night (this is me inferring), the boulanger fills up a brown bag full of the bread they did not sell and throws it into the 'bread dumpster.' what a waste!!

to my great surprise, my trainer / mom / companion opened the dumpster and pulled out a pain au chocolat twist. mmm. but it was stale and... nasty.

but my compainion insisted and we went back to the other side of the dumpster to what was obviously the produce from today. and pulled out a fresh baguette pointé and a great big roll of brown nut bread.

conclusions 1. it was a delicious addition to our vegetable soup. 2. we won't do it again. 3. we now know what's in the bread dumpster. 4. french bread is amazing. 5. this upcoming week will not only be 'French week' but also 'no patisseries' week :) ... some things can be too much of a good thing.

thanks for emailing, camille and family! i'll write you slow mail next week.

bisous,

Sœur Wilson
