Golden Hours

Last week, we had made it a focus to use the golden hours between 6 and 8 pm to do finding activities. we talked with people in the road, we called a ton of them, we rode buses, trains, metros, we asked survey questions about the family, meandered in parks outside where all could see us. The first or second day that we diligently used these hours, a man walking past us slowed to look at my tag. You have to be careful with men as a Sister in 'the 93rd' in St Ouen, but for some reason, I knew it was someone I needed to contact. It turns out that he was an investigator 4 years ago when he lived in northern Italy. He said that he'd love to learn about the gospel from us again--and perhaps introduce it to his wife and little daughter-- and left us with his number.

He tried to come to church and tried to schedule an appointment but let us down on both occasions. In each case, he called afterwards to apologize and make his excuces, however legitimate. Through these numerous phonecalls, I got to know that he is from Congo and was very integrated into the church in Italy. All of his friends over there are Mormon and he is still in contact with them. How does he live 5 minutes from the church and not find it for 4 years?

When we went over to teach him, we taught about Joseph Smith, the restoration of the priesthood and prophets on the earth again. I asked him to pray again to know if Joseph was really the prophet to bring in this last dispensation. As he told about praying about Joseph Smith before, he said that he had already got his answer. that he's a prophet.

wow. despite his little toddler breaking a glass cup (and plenty of other mischief) during the lesson, the spirit was there, and he was reminded of the gospel message and it's joy. He said that he told his wife about 'our church' already and has missed it here. Welcome back, brother, you are called home!
