Thanksgiving SUE

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Sue is a wonderful Buddhist friend that came to English class over the early summer. Her English is perfect but comes to practice.
and she came this week. For English class, after we played a little Oops and Analogies, I took over and talked about Thanksgiving American traditions. Then I invited them to our special ward party 'Thanksgiving à la Paroisse' on Saturday with the bribe that I would be making pumpkin pie.

After a few people shared they were thankful for family, sue cried. Afterwards I asked her about it, and she told me of her mother who has passed away some time ago. I asked her if she believed in the afterlife (reincarnation was the answer) and shared that I believe that she will see her again. I also told her that I'd be singing in English at the party--but she worked Saturday night and probably couldn't come.

Saturday night rolled around, and we had gone broke on preparing all sorts of things for the activity--colored feathers for all to write blessings on and stick on the big turkey on the wall, two pumpkin pies that were the hit of the 'tarte' table, and Wassail I had made as well.

The activity could not have gone better. Sr Gifford and I had copied a grid with things like 'find a lefty' 'sing someone a song' 'share something you've learnt this year' 'play tic-tac-toe with your neighbor' etc. and the different crowds of non-actives, members and friends of the church mingled and laughed as they searched for signatures.

After our District Leader's spiritual thought, I sang 'My Shepherd will supply my need.' Sue had run in right before, bringing candied chestnuts and hoping she hadn't missed the song! when I did sing, tears came to her eyes. After all was over, she hung about and looked at a Book of Mormon. Can I have one? YES!

love you all! thanks sister Hall for your letter! eat some turkey for me! love Soeur Wilson

Oh, the work here is Booming. I love st ouen. I love the people here. I love the English and the French language. I love the Africans that love Jesus. I love music. I love public transportation. I love talking to random people and finding out that they were 'once' a member of the church. I love contacting people after exchanging funny faces with their kids. I love wearing a name tag that says Jesus Christ. I love getting text messages from someone who's house I went to a month ago and had left a note in her mailbox. I love when people like Bussmann come to church to thank a member who has helped them move and kept on being their friend even after they had stopped taking the missionary lessons (she's starting again!).

And I love sharing the gospel not because I am a missionary, or because I am called or because I am supposed to teach this, but because this is Who I Am. because this is what I know, what I have discovered, what I believe with every fiber of my being. It's true!
